You have done this before. The book on the nightstand. The gym you paid for in January. The challenge that died in week two.

The truth a man holds alone bends him. The truth he says out loud to other men holds him up. You are buying the part you cannot manufacture by yourself.

It is not the money exactly. It is one more thing on the card that you would have to explain if anyone asked.

And you have paid for things like this before and got nothing back, which is what actually makes it feel expensive.

It is less than twelve a week. Less than you spent on coffee getting through last week.

And the thing you are weighing it against is not zero. Drifting has a price too. You have just never had it written on a page before.
